Governance

If we are to improve governance in Belize it must be done not only in what we say, but also in what we do. It cannot be done overnight but by a long-term strategy that builds upon cooperation between our government and citizens working together to build our institutions. We will have good governance if we respect and believe fervently in the Rule of Law, Accountability, and Transparency and are committed to a government that is legitimate, effective, and widely supported by Belizeans, while building a strong, open and respectful partnership with civil society.

Anti Corruption

The PUP respects and believes fervently in the rule of law, accountability and transparency and is committed to a government that is legitimate, effective, and delivering for all Belizeans, while building a respectful, strong, and mutually beneficial partnership with the social partners.

(%)

Education

Our cause is Education. Our will is strong. Our commitment deep. Education is generally viewed as a formalized process of the transfer of knowledge and skills within a society through established institutions of learning. For Belize however, Education must have a wider and deeper meaning. One which challenges us to ensure that all our people are provided with an opportunity to acquire the capacity and attitudes for full and active participation in the development of our nation.

(%)

Healthcare

There is a lot of work to be done in making sure that our country's health infrastructure is where it needs to be. Learn how the PUP plans to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare in Belize.

(%)

Agriculture

For too long our people's potential in agriculture has been left untapped. Together we will explore and unleash the full potential of Belizean agriculture and recentre its importance as a means of economic betterment for our people.

(%)

Women’s Agenda + Family

Promoting Meaningful Engagement and Empowerment of the Belizean Women. Nurturing and developing strong families for productive, prosperous and peaceful communities.

(%)

Rural Living, Housing, Transport and Infrastructure Policy

Infrastructure, housing and transport are vital for national development in that they are absolutely needed to develop human resources, enable trade and commerce, power businesses, connect workers to their jobs, create opportunities for struggling communities, and protect the nation from increasingly hostile climate and natural disasters. From communication systems, railroads, hydroelectric facilities and solar farms to roads and bridges, educational facilities, expansion of the electrical grid, water supply systems, housing, buildings and parks, a good infrastructure backbone is indispensable to a healthy, productive and sustainable economic society.

(%)

Safe Society and Justice

Learn about our vision to create a safer and more secure Belize by taking a progressive and multifaceted approach to eradicating crime and violence in the country. We seek to bring together various sectors and stakeholders in society to work towards a peaceful nation and more efficient means of bringing about justice.

(%)

Land

Land should be distributed in a just way that allows the majority of the population to benefit. Learn how we plan to manage the distribution of land and resources in our country in a way that puts the Belizean people first.

(%)

Economy and Jobs

The PUP understands the importance of bolstering the industries already existing in Belize while exploring new avenues for economic development and diversification. The entrepreneurial ambitions of the Belizean people must be given solid support with proper economic and financial management from our government.

(%)

Tourism

The fact is that before COVID-19, tourism industry generated 25% of Belizean jobs and contributed approximately 40% to GDP. This important industry requires new leadership; leadership with vision. The next PUP government expects returns of tourism to flow to Belizeans, whether as well paid professional staff, managers, operators or owners. So blessed is this resplendent jewel, so gifted and congenial are our people, that along with our world’s famous reefs and rain forests, wildlife and archaeological treasures, a deftly managed restart of this sector can propel a double digit comeback growth rate.
